Who we are
This website, chefmaffini.com, is the professional site of Chef Giampaolo Maffini.
The site is operated by MindBE Education FZCO, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean MindBE Education FZCO trading as Chef Maffini. We are the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

What data we collect
We collect very little. Here is the full list.
Information you give us. When you fill in the enquiry or contact form, or email us directly, we collect your name, your email address, and anything else you choose to write. Many people also include a phone number, a company or venue name, a location, and details of the project they want help with. That part is up to you.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting provider records standard server log data. That includes your IP address, your browser type, the pages you looked at, and the date and time. This happens on every website and it is needed to serve pages and keep the site secure.
Cookies and measurement data. If you agree to statistics or marketing cookies, we collect anonymous data about how the site is used. Which pages get read. How people arrive. Nothing that names you. You can refuse this and the site still works normally. Our Cookie Policy explains each category.
We do not take payment details on this website. We do not ask for sensitive information such as health data, religion or political views. Please do not send us any.
How we use your data
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and answer your questions
- discuss a possible consulting, menu development, kitchen training or task force chef project
- send you a proposal, a quote or a contract
- manage the work if you become a client
- keep records for tax and accounting
- see which pages are useful so we can improve the site
- keep the site secure and block spam and abuse
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it. We do not add you to a marketing list because you sent an enquiry. If you want email updates from us, you have to ask for them.
Our legal grounds under the GDPR are these. We answer enquiries and run our business on the basis of legitimate interests. We deliver contracted work on the basis of performing a contract. We keep financial records on the basis of legal obligation. We use non-essential cookies on the basis of your consent.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your data
- stop or limit how we use it
- send your data to you or to someone else in a portable format
- stop using your data for a particular purpose
Depending on where you live, you may have extra rights.
EU and UK. Under the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 you have all of the rights above. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. In the EU it is the data protection authority in your own country.
United Arab Emirates. Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you can access, correct, delete and transfer your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. You can also raise a complaint with the UAE Data Office.
Canada. Under PIPEDA you can access your data and challenge its accuracy. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
California. Under the CPRA you can know what we collect, delete it, correct it, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that law. You will never be treated differently for using a right.
To use any of these rights, email chef@chefmaffini.com. We reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
Who we share data with
We share data with a small number of service providers who help us run the site. They may only use it to provide their service to us.
- Google Tag Manager. Loads measurement tags on the site. Container GTM-NJ52GQPZ.
- Our website hosting provider. Stores the site files, the database and the server logs.
- Our email provider. Delivers and stores the enquiries you send us.
- Our accountant. Sees invoices and client records where the law requires it.
We may also share data if a court or a regulator lawfully requires it.
Some of these providers sit outside the UAE, the UK and the EU. Where data crosses a border we rely on the provider’s standard contractual clauses and their own data protection terms.
How long we keep data
- Enquiries and correspondence: 3 years from your last contact with us.
- Analytics data: 14 months.
- Client records, contracts and invoices: for the life of the working relationship, then 7 years for tax.
- Server logs: short rolling periods set by our host.
When a period ends we delete the data or make it anonymous.
How we protect your data
The site runs over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted. Access to the admin area is limited to named people and is protected by strong passwords and a security plugin. We keep the site and its software updated. We only keep what we need.
No website can promise perfect security. If a breach ever puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authority without delay.
Children’s data
This site is written for chefs, operators, hotels, restaurants and media. It is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change is significant we will make that clear on the site.
